The project..

Adam bought a 2006 Ford E250 cargo van, and now he's transforming it into a camper van (self-made Sportsmobile) for himself, Liz and the dogs (and maybe the cat). Liz is photodocumenting the project here, start to finish!

Recent Activities

Over two weeks ago Adam (and I) got the fridge wired into the van! I helped fish the wires through the wall of the van (Adam did everything else). We were both dreading fishing the wires--we assumed it would be a long and tedious experience--but it took probably less than 5 minutes. Here we are, triumphant.

Currently Adam is in the garage using this contraption:
This is a camp stove with a pot of boiling water on it, with flexible aluminum duct attached to it (the duct is also hanging from the ceiling). Inside of the duct is a small, long piece of wood. He's steaming it so he can bend it around this:
Once this board is wrapped with wood and Adam makes a cabinet door for it, it will be a storage compartment in the side door of the van and will fit perfectly into a hollowed out part of the structure of the door. Depending on how this all goes, he may also make a smaller cubby (oval shaped) to hold dog collars and leashes.

Other recent purchases center around the electrical parts of the van. (Lots of little wires and tools and fittings). The big one is this:
A solar panel! It's really big! Apparently four of these can fit on top of the van, but we are only having one (for now). It should be able to power the fridge even on hot or partly cloudy days.

Two weekends ago we took the van up to Tahoe again. We wanted to see some fall colors (golden aspen) and we saw just the start. We plan on going again this weekend (pending weather) to see a better show.

The following pictures are near Sorenson's resort:
